"A gay Jew walks into a bar..."

Far from being the setup for a tasteless joke, this is actually the start of how the world was introduced to The Beatles. Brian Epstein, a gay Jewish man from Liverpool, saw the young band playing in a basement club and knew right then and there, before anyone else, that they had something to give to the whole world and that he was the man who make that happen.

Brian's story became the subject of The Fifth Beatle by Vivek J. Tiwary, Andrew Robinson, and Kyle Baker. This episode gave Greg the chance to follow up with Vivek from their talk last September, and go into further detail about the graphic novel, the film, and comics in general. Find out which cartoonist Vivek studied for guidance on turning music into comics, what an Indian father told him during his trip to Comic Con India in Hyderabad, the thing his historical mentor taught him not to do, which movie was the first Beatles biopic to have actual Beatles music, the comic that taught this only child what having brothers was like, and so much more!
