This week's episode kicks off with a simple request: pick a number. It's a lottery of sorts for Mike and Greg as random comics are plucked from their places and used as kindling for conversation. Dark Reign-era Marvel, Mike's least favorite "Hellboy" arc, and a deep dive into Ashley Wood's storytelling decisions are just a few topics that're touched on in this wide-ranging free for all! Also, keep this image handy for later reference.

A co-host’s comment and an EiC’s panel answer spark this week’s discussion on tackling the comic reader’s eternal dilemma: “How can I make time to enjoy the comics I already have when I keep buying more each week?” Unstoppable forces and immovable objects collide as the lads discuss not only quantities of comics but quality of reading as well. When was the last time you got to savor a book? Really look at and absorb for more than two seconds that page an artist worked a whole day creating? But with the market as it stands, and deserving creators needing every single customer to keep their books afloat, is dropping New Comic Day cold turkey really the answer? And what is your definition of ‘deserving’? All those questions and more posed, pondered, and maybe even answered on this week’s episode!

After tackling the Green section last week, Mike and Greg turn their full attention to the front half of the Previews catalog for September 2016. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW… they may be deemed Premier publishers by Diamond, but are they bringing the goods this month? Will DC’s Gerard Way-headed “Doom Patrol” title be the breakout hit Young Animal needs? Where are the gotta-have-them-NOW books that used the set Image apart from the pack? Standing behind the astronauts, maybe? And is Civil War II the next event giving Marvel momentum at the cost of a burnt-out readership? It's not all gloom and (Doctor) Doom, but talk gets real about what it means to be following Big Two books in 2016 on the second half of the July 2016 Previews double-header!

Elvis! 2000 AD Prog 2000! Attack on Titan! Magazine-sized Love & Rockets! Cerebus! ATARI! ATARI?!?!? Yes, ATARI! In fact, this episode not only covers the catalog Green section (as in, the greener grass you keep seeing from the Big Two side of the fence), but delves into a decades-spanning video console discussion. This week brings a conversation between two of the most important and influential comics artists of the last half-century: Neal Adams and Bill Sienkiewicz. Greg recently had the opportunity to "moderate" a panel featuring the pair (their first solo panel together), but as you can imagine when Neal gets behind a microphone, it quickly developed a life of its own. Both creators shared stories, insight, and surprises from their decades-spanning careers in comics. A more tightly packed hour of comics conversation you would be hard-pressed to find, so tune in and enjoy this panel from last month's HeroesCon.

Our month-long look at Dark Horse Comics continues, both over at Multiversity Comics and here on this show with today's overview of the publisher’s various anthology offerings. Yes, we’ve all heard of “Dark Horse Presents”...but what about “Mayhem”? Or “Deadline USA”? Or “Cheval Noir”? The lads dig deep on this one to give credit where credit is due for Dark Horse’s commitment to delivering many different kinds of comics in single-issue packages. Why was there no manga anthology? Who was Toren Smith? What made Dark Horse Comics publish “Dark Horse Comics”? Which Alan Moore collaborator did Greg think made an appearance in ‘Sin City’ during its initial serialization in “DHP”? When did Ed Brubaker share shelf space with… Dr. Giggles? How did ‘The Masque’ wind up with a spelling change and a new lease on life? The answers to all those questions and more on today’s episode!

Dark Horse Month continues at Multiversity and here on the show, as the lads welcome writer Samuel Teer to the underground recording studio for some talk about his debut Dark Horse OGN “VEDA: Assembly Required” with Hyeondo Park and Kelly Fitzpatrick. The story of a young orphan girl growing up in an automated factory drew inspiration from sources as varied as Pixar and Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”, but this comic for all ages certainly brings its own virtues to bear. Teer talks about the process of getting the book to Dark Horse and what happened after its own assembly. What's it like for a first-time writer to have their debut OGN released by a major publisher? What went right...or wrong? Gremlins feature prominently in “VEDA” the story, but did Teer and company escape their shenanigans completely? Find out all that and more on this week’s episode!

Plus, the running order gets switched up a little this month, with Dark Horse getting the pole position in honor of their 30th anniversary, but things jump from there back to the Green section and continue as per usual. Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition volume 2! Chris Samnee Daredevil Artist Edition! The debut of the Moebius Library! More DC Rebirths! Fantagraphics telling it like it was! Re*Pro*Duct - again for the first time! All that, plus some Tomm Coker love in time for his new Image series with Jonathan Hickman, a frank talk about Frank Cho, which new Image series feels like a box being checked, who knows what art book lurks on the pull-list of one of the hosts (The Shadow knows!), the fastest Marvel rundown ever(?), and much more!

The lads celebrate 300 episodes by finally talking about a creator never before mentioned on the show: Mike Mignola! All kidding aside, this episode finds Mike & Greg in immediate post-”Hellboy in Hell” #10 territory, as the final issue hit stands mere hours before the tape started rolling. After 23 years and 66 issues in various iterations, Mignola brings his story of a demon raised as a man to a close, possibly forever. Mike & Greg talk about not only what happens in the last installment, but preface that deep-dive with a healthy back&forth of Mignola's work & career in general. What is it about his work that invites so much discussion? How have the years honed the Mignola/Stewart collaboration? When did Hellboy first zig where every one of his imitators zag, and which direction did that point to Mignola’s creative voice going? All that and more, plus Greg’s final answer on the “curve” Mignola vs “straight” Mignola debate, as Robots From Tomorrow celebrates its 300th episode!

The discussion kicks off with a little bit about Rich's approach to his art and his shift between the two series. And, of course, there's a little bit of dipping into Rich's back catalog as the discussion turns to creative inspiration, self-publishing, finding his way to Image, and a whole lot more. Mike and Greg squeeze in another freeform talk before the lead-up to next week’s “Dark Horse Month” over at Multiversity Comics. Having recently returned to the office-dwelling workforce, Greg starts things off with thoughts about how to decorate your workspace and the different levels of letting your geek flag fly. Do you go all-out? Is less really more? Even within SFW limits, what are the parameters to consider when deciding what parts of your fandom to share with the uninitiated? And are you prepared for the questions, comments, and fallout of your choices? You might be with this crowd a while, so getting off on the right foot is important. Find out where he & Mike draw their particular lines!

Then it's off to the iPads for some Marvel Unlimited back-issue bin rummaging! Leading out of a request by fellow MCer Matthew Garcia, the lads come up with some off-the-cuff recommendations and cover art critiques. Plus Jim Lee faces off against John Byrne with Mark Chiarello waiting in the wings, Humberto Ramos spins many a Spider-Man cover, and Greg carpet F-bombs the work of one particular Marvel cover artist. Is it Greg Land? Greg Horn? Greg Capullo? Find out who and much more on this episode!

Four issues into a five-issue story, Ted McKeever’s “Pencil Head” sprinkles surrealist happenings on top of a barely disguised look at McKeever’s journey through the mainstream American comics industry from 1990 to 2004(ish). Names are fudged to placate the lawyers, but you don’t need a crystal ball to see the obvious on this one (Crank Filler? Schmal Plevitz?). But even so, picking out ALL the references can be tricky. But luckily, Greg’s area of expertise is just that era of comics, so listen to he & Mike walk you through the ins & outs of this sharp-witted ‘bande desinee a clef’. Afterwards, the focus shifts to over to manga, as Mike digs into a Japanese print copy of “Weekly Shonen Jump.” How different is it from what we get digitally in the US? What cultural similarities and differences do the two comics bring to mind? All that, plus the name of the Silver Age artist banned from Marvel offices for nocturnal activities and much, much more on this episode!

With Mike on assignment this week, Greg taps Multiversity Comics editor & frequent RFT guest Brian Salvatore to sit in on this week's episode, taking a look at the recent Eisner Award 2016 nominations. But while most of the internet chatter has been about the nominees, Greg & Brian aim this discussion at a slightly wider angle: do the 2016 Eisner categories really reflect where comics find themselves in 2016? Starting with a peek behind the proverbial curtain for Multiversity's own "Year in Review" criteria & goals, the talk goes wider to the North American comics awards landscape: Eisners, Harveys, and Ignatz. Find out which company had a stranglehold on the "Best Editor" Eisner for its entire run, what awards were given during the 1970s, why we don't give out Kirby Awards, and how to solve a problem like contradictory categories. All that, plus a proposal for the Kim Thompson Award and more on today's episode!

Another free-form discussion this week, but one kicked off by talk of the recently released Doctor Strange “teaser” trailer. How spot-on is Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme? Does Strange’s tenuous ties to superheroics make him less or more attractive as a property outside comics, given his difficulty in keeping an ongoing series? What about his “Strange Tales” co-stars Cloak & Dagger? With their possible movie from page to screen, what parts of their dynamic still work outside their early 80’s crime sensationalist origins? Lest you think this episode is all Marvel, the lads throw some consideration to DC’s announcement of Gerard Way’s ‘Young Animal’ imprint. And then Mike tells all about the bounty of Jim Rugg mini comics and special variants picked up. That last bit might sound like boring radio to the uninitiated, were it not for the fact that Jim Rugg is physically incapable of putting out ANYTHING that doesn't merit some discussion. All that, plus Greg gets quizzed on DC imprints throughout the ages, the name “Mr. Jyp” is used in context for the first time in who knows HOW many years, and the secret connection between Maya Lopez and Hank Hall is revealed!

Even with DC's absence from this month's catalog, the guys still found a way to clock an extra-length Previews conversation! This week it's all about the premire section, as Dark Horse, IDW, Image and Marvel's June releases are fussed over. All that, plus decoding the hidden message in Duncan Fregredo’s Dark Horse-themed PREVIEWS cover, what IDW bullet dodged this month will hit Greg right between the eyes next month, and much more!

Gotham Academy/Lumberjanes! Sun Bakery! Sonic the Hedgehog! Boulet’s Notes! Tumor! Hot Dog Taste Test! Neon Genesis Evangelion! Rocksteady & Bebop! Godzilla Treasury Edition! The Clone Saga! Strange Attractors! Sherlock’s A Study in Pink! She-Wolf! Drinky Crow!

All that, plus why Jeff Purvis is an unsung hero of Peter David’s Hulk run, the absolute worst way Mike can imagine shuffling off this mortal coil, how Rob Williams and Henry Flint built a stone-cold Judge Dredd classic before our very eyes, what IDW bullet dodged this month will hit Greg right between the eyes next month, when the hell Heavy Metal is going to get their act together, and much more! The day has come! Given the realities of recording schedules, the lads take to the mics mere hours after DC announced their Rebirth creators. A bit of this, a bit of that, a bit of whathaveyou; opinions are shared and decisions are discussed. But before that, there's the small matter of the Multiversity Rebirth Fantasy Draft! Mike & Greg threw in with several other MC staffers to pick creative teams and solicit copy for the announced titles BEFORE the WonderCon livestream. While you can see the full list here, Mike & Greg go in-depth to talk about what went into their picks. Some no-brainers, some surprises, and some no-brainers that ended up surprising! The fantasy & reality of DC Comics 2016 is right here for your listening enjoyment!

After last week's look at Sophie Goldstein's "The Oven", the lads shift focus to the ever-growing stacks of comics coming into the recording studio at the center of the Earth. What titles moved from the "gotta read" pile to the "have read" one? With a list like "Dark Corridor", "Rai", and "The Envelope Manufacturer", you don't have to be a longtime listener (or even short-time one) to know this discussion is going to go in a couple of different and interesting directions. Plenty of talk about comics and what it's like to try and keep up with them week after week is just a click of the mouse, swipe of the finger, or push of a button away!

Mike & Greg focus on a work that took home two 2015 Ignatz Awards (for Outstanding Graphic Novel and Outstanding Comic) AND made Publishers Weekly’s list of the best books of 2015: “The Oven” by Sophie Goldstein! When Syd & Eric leave their sheltered, regulated lives in a domed city to start a family off-the-grid, circumstances quickly become more than they anticipated. Have they escaped one dead-end only to find themselves in another? Is a fresh start possible under these demanding conditions? In only 80 pages, Golstein manages to tell a story both concise & expansive simultaneously, giving the lads a lot of material to consider. And you know they can't discuss an Adhouse Books release without getting into the particulars of the book’s presentation, especially one as striking as “The Oven”. Mike flexes some printing knowledge muscles as he breaks down how Goldstein & Adhouse were able to make this book look like nothing else on the shelf. All that and more on this episode!

It’s been a little over two years since he was last on the show, but Wordballoon’s own John Siuntres returns to the studio at the center of the earth to talk to Greg about a subject near and dear to his heart: boxing. The lads thought since John covered boxing as a journalist for almost 16 years, it would be neat to get his take on last year’s CREED (now out on home video) and talk a little bit about the sport in general. If you only know about John through his comics talk, then you are really in for a treat; he is just as passionate and articulate about the sweet science as he is sequential art. Plus, like almost every episode of either Wordballoon or Robots, there are tangents and digressions galore. Movies, TV shows, Star Trek...oh, and of course, comics. We hope you enjoy listening to this conversation as much as they had having it, and with any luck it isn’t another two years before John comes back on the show.

When you get the chance to interview Greg Rucka, even if he just finished his most recent hours-long talk with Wordballoon's John Siuntres a few weeks prior, you just take that opportunity and hope you can bring a little something extra to the conversation. Taking that chance is just what (our) Greg did this past week, sitting down with the writer to fire off a few "addendum" questions he had thought of after listening to the latest 'Rucka Debrief'. But since (author) Greg is not only thoughtful in his responses but also extremely generous with his time, that one chat became two, with the planning of a third a few weeks from now. Today's episode contains those first two conversations, hitting topics ranging from in-depth process talk about Rucka's many career collaborations, spoiler-filled deep diving into the "Lazarus" Season One finale, the blacks and whites of "Black Magick", where the DCU lost its morale compass (and Greg's complicity in that), and just how he manages to write such positive, optimistic material without wanting to, in his own words, 'eat a gun'.

With Mike on assignment this week for some big Multiversity Comics happenings, Greg brings in not one, but TWO guests to help fill the void. ROBOTS and Multiversity Comics contributor Paul Lai is joined by his comic-reading younger brother Sonny as the three lads discuss one of the more interesting miniseries of 2015: "Oh, Killstrike". This BOOM! Studios book tells a tale steeped in comics history meta-text and gargantuan-sized vengeance, as the fanboy-and-new-father protagonist is teamed up with a living, breathing version of the main character from "The Worst Comic Book Ever Created": Killstrike! Written by Max Bemis and drawn by Logan Faerber, "Oh, Killstrike" is chock-a-block with the type of in-jokes, commentary, and story that we love to dissect here at ROBOTS...no matter who's behind the mic! So all that and tons more is just a single mouse click away!

Mike’s preparation for an impending move starts this week’s free-range conversation with talk about how we store all these comics that we buy & hang on to. Long boxes or shelves? Alphabetical or categorical? Sifting through a years-spanning collection always unearths forgotten treasure, which then begged the question of what to DO with that treasure. The loaded ‘slabbing’ debate is talked about, leading to discussion about what actually goes into making an issue ‘key’. First appearance? Death? Wild card? And while we can all think of Big Two special issue tentpoles, what about the independents? What “L&R” issue would YOU slab, given the chance? All that, plus emotional organizing versus objective organizing, the best comics-related gift Greg has ever received, what Diamond boxes are and aren’t good for, which IKEA furniture makes the best library fodder, home library as physical manifestations of our brains, the Pieta, Jim Starlin, Batman/Starman/Hellboy, and much more!

We now return you to the discussion of February 2016’s comics bounty, already in progress. Mike & Greg kick off this episode with Dark Horse and go through the rest of the ‘premier’ publishers. But since that half of the catalog is getting its own episode-sized slot, you KNOW there's going to be some good talk. Aliens - oversized and unredacted! Al Williamson’s Empire Strikes Back! Before DKR? The Coming of the Supermen! Wonder Woman: Earth One! Mirror! Michael Cho vs Neal Adams: Variant Cover Showdown! All that, plus a surprisingly full discussion of the cover work of Sachin Teng, what the ocean ever did for Luke Cage to punch it, Greg apologizes about Chris Bachalo, what ‘paper on board’ actually means, and more!

Miss part one of this conversation? No sweat, that one's right here!

Another Previews catalog showed up on their doorsteps, so it’s time to gaze into the tomorrow of February 2016 and see what catches Mike and Greg’s eyes. Alternative Comics (yet again, the publisher)! A Sammy Harkham double-shot of Kramers Ergot & Crickets! The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye! Kennel Block Blues! Jonesy! Wet Moon! Bakuman! School Judgment! From Now On! Shaft! As You Were! Powr Mastrs! All that, plus effective logo design and when words become images themselves, the nostalgia for living in shitty group houses with live bands playing all the time, how awesome “Titan” by François Vigneault turned out to be, and more! But wait, where's all the Marvel/DC talk? Well, friends, we got so into the spirit of talking comics that we had to split this episode in twain to fit it into the schedule. So look for the ensuing discussion about the front-half of the catalog next week!

In the future, humanity has spread throughout the solar system...but carried all its faults and flaws with it. Bajram’s “Universal War One” (recently collected in hardcover by Titan Comics) follows a civil war between the United Earth Forces and the Colonisation Industrial Companies spiraling out of control, racking up an incredible (human and celestial) body count. What is ‘The Wall’? How does time travel fit into everything, and does Bajram play that side of things fast & loose? Which version offers the better translation: the Titan hardcover or the Marvel/Soleil comics from 2008? Who’s leading this fight: Bajram the artist or Bajram the writer? When does localization come into play? All that and more as Mike & Greg wade into this conflict to see who’s still standing when the space-dust settles!

The advice flows freely in this episode, as Mike & Greg spitball ideas on how to fix parts of the comics industry that aren't working the way they should. From DC’s packaging of DCYou titles to mainstream outreach to looking out for the comics little guys (and gals), a kind of ‘fantasy comics’ plays out as the lads put together their ideal distribution consortium. Plus, Artist & Gallery Edition talk covers the recent P. Craig Russell volume from Dark Horse and looks ahead (still) to The Maxx from IDW (eventually). All that and more on this episode!

With Mike on assignment, the lads are more than happy to have Multiversity Comics colleague and comics-wielding educator Paul Lai filling in on the mic in his stead. And like any good substitute, Paul brought his own lesson plans and discussion topic: getting into and staying in comics. But this isn't a 'breaking in' discussion; he and Greg talk about how they got into READING comics and managed to wind up where they are today, lo those many years later. Secret origins are revealed, knowledge is dropped, mutual admiration espoused, and a pretty free-wheeling discussion spins out of Paul's visit to the subterranean recording studio.

They're mentioned in every show, but this week the lads are taking a moment to shine the spotlight a little more directly on their sponsor Third Eye Comics, and more specifically, the man BEHIND Third Eye Comics: Steve Anderson. In addition to recording some up-to-the-minute audio with Steve on location at the Annapolis, MD location, a previous interview he and Greg had done in 2013 was unearthed and is included on the second half of this episode. While one half goes more into the state of comics-slinging in 2015, the 2013 segment goes much deeper into Steve's retail tips and philosophy of getting his customers the comics they know they want and the books they don't yet know they need. A fun and informative hour of conversation is just a mouse click/finger swipe/button press away!

Today we have Greg's interviews from last week's New York Comic Con.

Things kick off with writer/editor/Valkyrie Katy Rex. Katy is working on Strange Wit, a graphic novel about the life & works of writer Jane Bowles. They talk about that, her multitude of other works, and just what it means to be a Valkyrie in today’s comics climate.

Next comes artist Nilah Magruder. Winner of the inaugural Dwayne McDuffie Diversity Award earlier this year, Nilah is the cartoonist behind the webcomic M.F.K.. They chat a little bit about her approach to the comic as well as the new picture book she’s working on for 2016. Keep checking back at Multiversity Comics for an more in-depth interview with Nilah in the coming days.

Following that Greg checks in with Leila del Duca and Joe Keatinge of “Shutter”, delving into some process talk with Leila and getting some lowdown on Joe’s upcoming Image book Ringside with Nick Barber. Plus, Greg takes the opportunity to pick his brain on the just-announced Moebius Library and what we might be seeing from that Dark Horse project.

And finally, things wrap up with a talk with writer Alex Simmons and Joseph Illidge. Simmons’ work on the comic “Blackjack” has been brought back into print by Dover Graphic Novels, and we get a chance to hear from the writer himself about why writing the adventures of a 1930’s African-American soldier of fortune with a conscience is still relevant in 2015.

Today we have the second of two episodes with Greg's interviews from the recent Baltimore Comic-Con. Lots of comics talk with creators representing both coasts in this one, but there's no East Coast/West Coast beefing here; just good comic booking.

Things kick off with cartoonist Jeff Parker. We talk a little Flash Gordon, some editorial hijinx on his recent Shazam mini, why everyone thought Doc Shaner owed him an apology, how Sandy Jarrell draws such believable teenagers, and just what Parker's role at Periscope Studios really is. Apparently a lot of TV watching and goofing off is involved.

Next comes the Portland-based artistic team of Dan Schkade and Brennan Wagner. Dan's name popped up in my last talk with Brennan, but now we get to hear from them both in stereo. We cover Dan's recent work on The Spirit, some of his influences and philosophies, and which 90's X-Man would be their choice for a career & character-defining run.

Finally we jet on over to Brooklyn (aka the other side of the convention floor) and check in with Christa Cassano, Gregory Benton, Dean Haspiel, and Chris Miskiewicz of Hang Dai Studios. We talk new books, old work, Danish hospitality, the benefits of mixing influences, Seth Kushner, watercolors versus gouache, and more.

Today we have the first of two episodes of Greg's interviews from the recent Baltimore Comic-Con. First up, he talked to writer Ed Krayewski about his comics work with an unlikely collaborator: his 82-year old father, Polish fine artist Andre Krayewski. Ed explains how creators from two different generations and disciplines have come together to make comics like none other on the market.

Then he managed to carve out some time to catch up with writer/letterer/editor Rachel Autumn Deering. The brain behind the Eisner- and Harvey-nominated horror anthology "In The Dark", Rachel is a perfect example of how hard work and diversifying your skill set can help make you successful in today's comics industry. This talk has a few surprise guests in it; their appearances were left them in the recording because it will help give you, the listener, a little glimpse into how freewheeling and unexpected these convention talks can be.

Another September, another SPX. This year, the Small Press Expo actually kicks off the latter-half of the convention-going year for Mike & Greg, as one or the other will be going to SPX, Baltimore Comicon, NYCC, and the Locust Moon Comics Festival. And of course, that means interviews and check-ins galore!

We start things off with this trio of talks Greg conducted from the recent SPX 2015. The first was checking in with frequent RFT guest Josh O'Neill of Locust Moon Press. Josh, along with partners Andrew Carl and Chris Stevens, has had quite the busy year since we last checked in with them. Their "Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream" anthology hit the Eisner Awards like a juggernaut, and spawned a budget-sized companion volume overseen by the great Francoise Mouly. And while that was going on, they managed to put together a comic so good the Philadelphia Museum of Art decided (no joke) to place it in their collection.

Next came Greg's chance to finally talk with "Wuvable Oaf" creator Ed Luce about his new Fantagraphics collection of that comic's output to date.

And finally, Greg let Matt Silady teach him all about the Comics MFA program at the California College of Art, a 3-year low-residency program that lets you take your education in comics to the next level.

Desire, thought, and action. In the followup to his acclaimed 1998 graphic novel "Hicksville," cartoonist Dylan Horrocks uses one of that book's supporting characters' encounter with a magic drawing implement to not only tell an engaging story, but also engage with those three components of the human experience. "Magic Pen" may have been 10 years in the making, but it still showcases one of comics' best thinkers trying to reconcile with themes very much at the forefront of today's comics culture: the power of fantasy, the ease comics can express those creators' desires (both positive & negative) to the audience, the effect they have on a growing audience of different-minded or impressionable readers. There's a lot to unpack and some sensitive subject matter, and Mike & Greg try their best to do it without offending anyone. There might be a few more pauses than usual, but that's just because words are being extra-parsed. Find out if they succeed in avoiding any hot-rail catastrophes in this episode!

Black Ops Sports Team. That was the pitch for "X-Force" as part of the spring 2001 relaunch of the X-Men line, stuck somewhere between Claremont's "X-Treme" and Casey's "Uncanny." A Vertigo mainstay and an indie cartoonist doing an X-Book? How crazy was that? But "X-Force" turned out to be the little book that could, grabbing critical praise and the attention of comic fans old and new with its bold combination of satire, commentary, and characterization. Mike & Greg look back at the first 14 issues of the Allred/Milligan collaboration and see how it holds up almost 15 years later. How reader-friendly was the title BEFORE the revamp? What part did that first issue play in getting Marvel to finally drop the Comics Code for good? Which recurring Allred archetypes show up in "X-Force" and why? When does the series go off the rail (and why)? Who comes in to pinch-hit for Allred on art, and do they strike out or hit a home run? All that, plus a head-to-head matchup between X-Force and Morrison's New X-Men over the hosts' affections. Which book will reign supreme? Find out the answer to that question and more on this episode!

How do you follow up a juggernaut like "Scott Pilgrim?" Six volumes, a major motion picture, tons of awards… the task of coming up with the next thing after that has to be a daunting one. But after 4 years, O’Malley answered that question with “Seconds,” an OGN about a young restaurateur given the chance to fix the mistakes of the past with the help of some magic mushrooms. Sounds like just the thing you’d expect from O’Malley, right? It is...and it isn’t. Mike & Greg take a look at the latest work from this cartoonist and his assembled team to find out if this book, like any great meal, is worth coming back to for more.

After 37 issues, to call Matt Kindt's "Mind MGMT" an 'accomplishment' almost feels like an understatement. Kindt not only wrote, penciled, inked, colored and lettered the entire series, he also provided covers, back-up strips, supplemental material, a litany of secrets, and fake back page ads for every issue. With "New MGMT" #1, the final issue of the series, hitting shelves next week, we wanted to take a bit of time to talk with Kindt about coming to the end of such a monumental project. There's also a bit of chatter about his new series "Department H," revisiting old works, and thinking about Spider-Man while falling asleep.
