A new “Previews” catalog on the doorstep means another glimpse into our comics future! This week Mike & Greg focus on the Green section, covering roughly ¾ of comics publishers. And what August releases catch their fancy? Sheena, Queen of the Jungle! Border Worlds! Swordquest! Trina Robbins! Sabrina! Robotech! The Tick! Love & Rockets & Swords (oh my!)! Mech Cadet Yu! All that, plus tasteful blood splatter, the benefits of Patreon-izing, the start of the Cullen Bunn drinking game, and how Moritat played a substantial role in Multiversity history. Definitively something for everyone in this top half of this two-part “Previews” walkthrough!

Today we bring you one of the "Color Commentary" panels from this past weekend's HeroesCon 2017. Here's how the convention schedule described it:

With this year’s guest list boasting so many of comics’ best colorists, the biggest concern was fitting them all into one panel. Our solution? Have TWO! (The other is on SUNDAY!!!) Looking to demystify the coloring process and answer your questions in the first of two Color Commentary panels this weekend, moderator Greg Matiasevich (Multiversity Comics) is joined by colorists LAURA MARTIN, MATT WEBB, KELLY FITZPATRICK, MATT WILSON, and MARISSA LOUISE!

Colorists are among the unsung heroes of the comics industry, and you'll learn why after listening to this episode!

Almost a year and a half after their first conversation, Greg Rucka is back to talk with our Greg about his current workload. What was originally going to be a quick follow-up to the earlier discussion turned into a full-on debrief about the current state of "Lazarus" (and "Lazarus X+66"), "The Old Guard", "Stumptown", "Black Magick", and (of course) the Amazon of the hour: "Wonder Woman". Rucka talks about the perils of working on a bi-weekly book, the importance of pauses in his work, the deep geekdom that forged him, collaboration as the key to success, what missteps he sought to avoid from his prior "Wonder Woman" run, whether DC Rebirth was as much of a course correction for his relationship with the company as it was for the character he was writing, and more on this week's episode!

The book club discussions return after a year-long hiatus with this look at two similar but divergent Elseworld tales from DC Comics. Featuring powerhouse art teams (Mignola/Russell and Jones/Jones III) with undeniably appealing high concepts (Batman vs Jack the Ripper & Batman vs Dracula), both books stand as templates for how to do Elsewhere stories right...but take completely different paths getting there. Throw in a mystery third book and you have a talk covering such topics as the lasting impact of Zorro on Batman, Elseworlds vs ‘What Ifs?’, scary sexy body horror heroics, the refreshing naïveté of Bruce Wayne, red herrings & red sons, 19th century Gotham newspapers running front page stories in Kryptonese, and more.

Back on the show for the first time is comics multi-hyphenate Klaus Janson to talk about his new creator-owned series "Sacred Creatures" with Pablo Raimondi. Greg got a chance to talk with Janson regarding "Sacred"'s unusual approach to labor division (he and Raimondi are co-writing the series as well as alternating art chores) and cover other ground about the series over a decade in the making. All that, plus find out what Janson has learned from working in such close relationship with not only art powerhouses like John Romita Jr. and Andy Kubert, but also from up-and-coming pros during the years spent as both an instructor at SVA and expert-at-large in seminars at Marvel and more.
